Post-Consecration Communiqué by the FSSPX

The Priestly Fraternity of Saint Pius X. (FSSPX) “sincerely regrets that, due to exceptional circumstances, these consecrations had to be conferred without the authorization of the Holy Father”, the general house said in a communiqué after the episcopal consecrations today in Ecône, Switzerland.
“It particularly regrets that the Society’s Superior General did not have the opportunity to meet personally with His Holiness Pope Leo XIV to explain, in a spirit of filial devotion, the grave reasons that made this ceremony necessary.”
At the same time, the statement speaks of a profound joy inspired by these episcopal consecrations.

Spoken like a true son of the Church! It's time for the Ecclesia Dei priests to stop being cowards and join the fight

Statement reads: The Society sincerely regrets that, owing to exceptional circumstances, these consecrations had to be conferred without the authorization of the Holy Father. It regrets in particular that the Superior General of the Society was not afforded the opportunity to meet personally with His Holiness Pope Leo XIV, in order to set before him filially the grave reasons which rendered this ceremony necessary. The profound joy inspired by these episcopal consecrations cannot, however, be overshadowed. By securing the means necessary for the preservation of the sacred heritage of Tradition, the gift of these four new bishops constitutes truly a very great grace for the Society itself and for the whole Church. The Society of Saint Pius X rejoices deeply in this and raises to God a fervent act of thanksgiving, thanking in particular the Most Blessed Virgin Mary for having permitted this transmission of the fullness of the priesthood, for the greater glory of God, the honour of Holy …অধিক

Tucho Fernández on FSSPX: "In Future, Dialogue Will Be Possible"

The Priestly Fraternity of Saint Pius X (FSSPX) "didn't consider useful the dialogue we've proposed", Cardinal Tucho Fernández, soft porn author and Prefect of the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith, told @Michael Haynes on X.com.
Tucho added: "But we hope in future, thanks to the action of the Holy Spirit, it'll be possible. I'm sure, but we'll need time."

If they're excommunicated, they will no longer be under his jurisdiction. They'll fall under the jurisdiction of the dicastery for Christian unity, or whatever it's called.

myunkie

I sincerely pray that Tucho will have that dialogue and through the careful and sincere reasoning of the SSPX will repent. He, like I, has sinned, but the greater sin falls to those who formed him so poorly as to think his actions in the Synodal Church are not a source of grave, eternal condemnation.

Burning Crosses at a Polish Festival: On 26 June, during the Bangarang heavy metal festival in Chwałkowo, Poland, a stage performance included the burning of wooden crosses. A firefighter stood by for fire safety. Local politicians and officials condemned the act as blasphemous and disrespectful of religious feeling.

A firefighter stood by for fire safety. Local politicians and officials condemned the act as blasphemous and disrespectful of religious feeling.
And yet it was still allowed. Even with a firefighter to make sure it doesn't get out of control. Their only real concern. A lot of people get away with this sort of thing in Poland like Blaspheming against Catholics and GOD. Very few are even fined. Then below we have this mess in Poland. No wonder they don't stop burning of crosses and filthy plays. You will never see this in Russia! It's a crime, and a serious crime to attack any religion in Russia. They won't pretend to be outraged. THEY WILL BE! And off to jail you go! Freedom of religion is one thing they take very seriously. They got caught in their own laws trying to ban freemasons. But working on how to change it without hurting others. That will be one huge challenge they have on their hands. Thankfully there isn't many at all. About 1.000 +. This is why many hate Russia. Thomas's doubt helps us believe...
July 3 - Feast of St. Thomas the Apostle
Dear brothers and sisters, the doubt of St. Thomas the Apostle, whose feast we celebrate on July 3, who, to believe in the Resurrection of Jesus, wanted to see and personally touch the Risen One, can help this poor, once-Christian West of ours return to the roots of its greatness.
Faith is a human act (CCC 154).
In our hyper-modern, and unfortunately no longer Christian, Western world, we all feel, especially young people, somehow represented by St. Thomas, in our need to "see and touch," firsthand, in order to believe.
Jesus knows very well how we are made, and the entire Gospel of John tells us how the disciples come to faith in Jesus through seeing, touching, and reflecting on the signs He performed.
The supernatural gift of faith not only does not exclude, but requires the participation of the whole person, in all their dimensions. A true experience of faith, therefore, presupposes the participation of the …অধিক

Motu Proprio: Centralization of Governance of the Diocese of Rome

Today, Leo XIV issued the Motu Proprio Confirma Fratres Tuos, which replaces the apostolic constitution In Ecclesiarum Communione, promulgated by Pope Francis in January 2023, which governed the vicariate of Rome.
According to the new constitution:
• The Cardinal Vicar regains primary executive authority over the Vicariate and assumes greater responsibility for its day-to-day governance while remaining accountable to the Pope.
• The Episcopal Council is no longer a decision-making body, but rather a consultative one. The Cardinal Vicar will chair it rather than the Pope.
• A new office, the Moderator Curiae, is established. The Moderator Curiae is appointed for a five-year term to coordinate the Vicariate's offices, oversee personnel, and manage administrative operations.
• The Vicegerent continues in a supporting role while transferring many administrative coordination responsibilities to the Moderator Curiae.

Leo XIV Brings Financial Watchdog Under Direct Papal Control

Leo XIV has overhauled the Vatican's financial watchdog, replacing its long-standing board-led structure with a director appointed directly by the pope.
The reform, contained in a chirograph published June 30, introduces a new statute for the Authority for Financial Supervision and Information (ASIF). This body is responsible for combating money laundering and supervising the Vatican's financial system.
The biggest change is institutional.
Until now, ASIF was governed by a president and board - a model resembling those used by many central banks and independent financial regulators.
The new statute abolishes that structure. Instead, ASIF will be headed by a director, assisted by a deputy director, both appointed by the pope for five-year terms. The authority's annual report and budget will also be submitted directly to the Council for the Economy.
The statute replaces the previous board with a single papally appointed leadership, a governance model that more closely resembles that of …অধিক

OUTSTANDING: Dialogue for Constantinople, Excommunication for Écône

Leo had time for ecumenical guests. He had time for global speeches, institutions, delegations, and dialogues. The one group facing imminent canonical annihilation received the papal hand at the eleventh hour.
On June 30, Leo XIV received the delegation of the Ecumenical Patriarchate and spoke in the polished language of postconciliar ecumenism.
He called Constantinople a “sister Church.” He spoke of Bartholomew with gratitude and warmth. He remembered his visit to the Phanar. He recalled deepening mutual friendship. He praised the desire to advance toward full unity among Christians. He pointed to Nicaea, the Nicene Creed, the 1700th anniversary, and the road toward 2033. He spoke of peace, technology, creation, human dignity, and cooperation among Christians for the future of humanity.
Every phrase moved smoothly. Friendship. Closeness. Exchange. Journey. Unity in legitimate diversity. Common witness. Cooperation.
One day earlier, he addressed the SSPX.
There the language changed.

Leo XIV Writes to FSSPX

Yesterday, Leo XIV wrote to the Priestly Fraternity of St. Pius X. He acknowledged the FSSPX's devotion to Tradition, the liturgy, and priestly formation. He begs them to "turn back" from a prospective "schismatic act", warning of its grave consequences while reaffirming the Church's openness to dialogue and reconciliation. The letter.

Superior General
of the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Pius X

With a paternal heart, and aware of the responsibility entrusted to me by the Lord as the Successor of the Apostle Peter, I address you and, through you, the bishops, priests, seminarians and faithful connected to the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Pius X.
The Church recognizes the devotion to liturgical life, commitment to priestly formation, apostolic zeal and desire for fidelity to Tradition that characterize many people and communities connected to your Fraternity. This has motivated the attentive and generous attitude that my Predecessors have consistently …অধিক

This is political strategy. It has nothing to do with being a "Shepherd." Enough dialogue. We've been dialoguing for 60 years. "By their fruits you will know them." Who would have guessed Our Lord was prophesying with a double entendre.

FSSPX "Liturgical" Reply for Lacking an Apostolic Mandate: Asked about the Apostolic Mandate in the liturgical rite of the Episcopal Consecrations, a notary of the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Pius X (FSSPX) read a declaration: “It is the Catholic and Roman Church, which has always been faithful to the traditions received from the Apostles, that, in entirely exceptional circumstances, demands that we uphold these traditions — the Deposit of Faith — and transmit them faithfully to all men for the salvation of their souls. From the Second Vatican Council to the present day, church authorities have been acting contrary to the faith and against holy tradition. They will no longer tolerate sound doctrine.”

When asked about the Apostolic Mandate for the Episcopal Consecrations, they justify why they will proceed without it.

They mean they are faithful to Tradition. Vatican Council II irrational is not traditional but heretical and schismatic. However they can still affirm Vatican Council II rational and ask the pope to do the same.

Consistory: Cardinal Burke Questioned Synod's Direction on Homosexuality

Cardinal Raymond Burke criticized at the consistory the pro-homosexual Final Report of the Synod’s Study Group No. 9. AdVaticanum.com reports (June 29) that he focused on its call to privilege the "experiences" of homosexuals.
Cardinal Burke described the report as manifesting “the very grave difficulty with the current direction and functioning of the Synod” and stressed that it carries weight as official synodal material.
He added that, by invoking a “paradigm shift,” the report takes a path divergent from the Church’s perennial moral teaching on the homosexual condition and corresponding acts.
Furthermore, the Cardinal defended the Courage apostolate supporting chastity. He criticized the report for slandering such efforts and validating agendas “in open opposition to the traditional moral doctrine of the Church.”
He concluded by invoking St John Paul II’s Veritatis Splendor in defence of immutable moral norms.

'Audivimus', 'Achatius' and Causa XXIV: Heretics Excommunicating Catholics

Jun 30, 2026
The full text of the Causa in which the important canons of Gratian's Decretum appear – explaining why heretics have no power, and cannot excommunicate Catholics.
Editor’s Notes
This article reproduces the entirety of Causa XXIV, Quest. I, along with Gratian’s commentaries.
In an accompanying article, I have explained the history, context and interpretation of the so-called canon Audivimus, and its relevance to any excommunications which may be levelled by Leo XIV against the SSPX and other traditionalists.
Here is the text itself.

@Michael Haynes leaves Pelican+ for the Catholic Herals
"For the past number of months I have been covering the Vatican beat for the American outlet Pelican+, I look forward to making the Catholic Herald my main home and providing the standard of Vatican reporting that readers of this storied publication would expect."

Why I am joining the Catholic Herald

A little before Christmas, I was very grateful to be asked by the Catholic Herald to pen the new Vatican Dispatch, giving readers a twice-weekly update from Rome and a summary of the chief Vatican stories of the week.
As an Irish-English journalist specialising in the Vatican for the last six years, my work has mainly been published in American Catholic outlets, and so the Catholic Herald’s Vatican Dispatch marked a rare treat for me, enabling me to write such columns while engaging with audiences both abroad and now at home.
The Catholic Church has so much vigour in North America, and this naturally spills over into the wide variety of Catholic media outlets based in that great nation. As a journalist writing for such an audience, it has been rewarding to witness that fervour in the Faith and the fruits it can lead to. Yet I always clung to my desire somehow to contribute to the development of the Faith closer to home: to partake in a Catholic revival back in the UK. “Mary’s Dowry …

One must seriously considered that a few of these "catholic media" apostolates are simply fifth columnists seeking to spread propaganda. Think of outfits like Crux which was started by some NCR guy with the backing of the Boston Globe and bailed out by the Knights of Columbus. This organization has combined influence from 1) liberal modernist dissenters, 2) secularists, 3) neo-con Catholics. Totally organic "grass-roots"? NO WAY!
