Vocations are virtually nonexistent, while deaths, departures, and community closures have become everyday realities.

In 1965, there were 181,421 religious Sisters in the United States. Today, they number 33,135 with only 1% under the age of 40. There are more Sisters over the age of 80 than under 60.
