But Dagospia.com claims Francis never kept a diary and destroyed much of his correspondence after handling it - while Fernández received a box of his old agendas. Dagospia questions what these documents really are and calls the “diary” a commercial operation driven by Andrea Tornielli and Lorenzo Fazzini. It argues that papal documents belong to the Holy See and are subject to Vatican archival rules, questioning whether Fernández can publish them this way. It claims officials at the Secretariat of State and Vatican Apostolic Archive have sought explanations, while Vatican canon lawyers have raised objections. Dagospia likens it to a new “Vatileaks” - except this time through official Vatican institutions.

Entitled, "Do You Know Them to Be Worthy?", the file was written by Father Thomas V. Berg and psychologist Timothy G. Lock. The report draws on research commissioned from the Center for Applied Research in the Apostolate (CARA) and a consultation held at Notre Dame in September 2025. The proposals concern psychological assessment, candidates with particular psychological or developmental conditions, and formation for chastity and celibacy.
