Rev Michael Andrade of the parish Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Clovis, California, in the Diocese of Fresno, and his vicar Joseph Klinge performed and danced in cassocks during the parish’s Annual Derby Dance Auction on May 2. The event, held in the parish school auditorium, featured the song “Livin’ on a Prayer” and an Elvis Presley impersonation by Rev Andrade.

The Vatican has publicly addressed the long-running case of Argentine priest Carlos Miguel Buela, founder of the Institute of the Incarnate Word (IVE). Dom Josep Maria Canals i Lamiel, the “Dynamite Priest” who became a Carthusian monk, died on 18 September, aged 96. Known for his energetic ministry among working-class communities, he entered the Grande Chartreuse at 55 and later Montalegre, becoming prior at 87. When the monastery once faced possible closure, Canals said he prayed before Our Lady of Lourdes and offered his own life so that Montalegre would not be abandoned. He remained there until his death.
