The Roman rite is "not an attack on the unity of the Church," Cardinal François-Xavier Bustillo, 57, of Ajaccio, France, told Italian daily Il Giornale on June 29. "The Church also has the Eastern rites, and even in the West we have many rites: I am thinking of the Ambrosian Rite, the Mozarabic Rite, or the Spanish Rite," the Spanish-born cardinal added. In his view, the difficulty arises only when "the search for greater radicality turns into rigidity". However, Cardinal Bustillo opposes the reversion of Traditionis Custodes.
